Live Interpretation at Expo
The use of floor staff as an interpretative device is widely accepted in Expos, Museums and Galleries across the world. Live interpretation can come in many forms and achieve many goals – sometimes with greater impact than more traditional interpretation forms such as signage, wayfinding or exhibits. More specifically, people can relay content messages but can also communicate and represent much more.
All staff are recruited and trained thoroughly to build rapport, deliver content and be proactive with visitors. Live interpretation should be one of the main highlights of the visit, allowing families to learn and be entertained together and to provide memorable moments in the context of a great cultural venue.
Queue Entertainment
When queuing in any space, different types of emotions are attached to the overall experience. It comes with no surprise that no one enjoys staying in a queue. By making queues entertaining, the perception of time is therefore altered.
Staff are equipped with queue boxes and scripts to entertain and perplex the visitors waiting in line. Their job is to keep the queue moving, present a friendly face and engage and delight families.
Tours for People of Determination
Skilled and committed to providing content to all visitors in a variety of ways and in understanding barriers to communication for whatever reason, we have produced bespoke content for specific educational needs in many venues and for adults as well as younger visitors.
This experience and understanding of the breadth of accessibility issues provide us with confidence and creativity when designing or adapting packages for people of determination.
Staff Recruitment
Working from an initial staff plan, we take a hands-on role for sourcing and assessing candidates with the right skills, experience and aptitude for working within an audience-focused destination. The expertise of the recruitment panel will match the role we are interviewing for, enabling us to test the skills and aptitude needed for the job.
We have recruited teams charged with delivering exceptional audience experiences for international Expos in Italy and Kazakhstan, and for cultural destinations in the UK, Saudi Arabia and the UAE.
Staff Training for Expo
Our training techniques are rooted in our understanding of how people best learn – through active participation, engagement and a mix of sessions that stretch, give context and build knowledge, skills and motivation. The result is a well-informed team, armed with the techniques to deliver and the will to develop and improve.
Every training package is tailored to the needs of the organisation. Training is offered as an organisation-wide service, or as a combination of modules. The length of the modules are dependent on the number of staff being trained, the prior experience of staff and the importance placed on developing certain skills and techniques.
Staff Training for People of Determination
We are committed to inclusion, accessibility and the active promotion of events for people with extra needs and determination. This commitment to equality and inclusion is also part of the training that teams receive – the packages always contain sessions on child development, learning theory, audiences and sessions dedicated to understanding and raising awareness of people (especially children) with disabilities and additional needs.
Operational Planning at Expo
We offer operational planning services for both existing and developing experiences. An operational plan is a blueprint for running a destination, event or program. It describes how it is run in its different modes, establishes clear protocols and procedures, details lines of communication between staff, and articulates an organization’s commitment to both teams.
Quality Assurance
During any project, managers will monitor and evaluate the programme from within the team (using
video and line management feedback) and by using questionnaires and focus groups. This will
help continually improve delivery and build relationships.
Architectural Tours at Expo
We have first-hand experience in designing and delivering Architectural tours in some of the UAE’s most prestigious cultural and heritage attractions and understand the impact of leaving visitors with a unique experience.
Educational Tours
As former learning managers, we have led the development and implementation of learning strategies that have built knowledge, skills and interest in audiences of different ages, backgrounds, abilities and interests.
Storytelling
Storytelling follows the process and development, including the theatrical skills of Spectrum Drama in creating characters for the staff to play that are engaging, but also, and crucially will be transferable to staff working on site. Training would include presenting and performing skills to build confidence. We would also be sensitive and adjust development in line with client’s needs and any local sensitivities. We are also aware of the differing definitions and expectations of ‘storytelling’ following our work at the Etihad museum in Dubai, where the “Two Great Leaders” book was transformed into a live session.
